Also reminds me of what Hemingway once said about his own work: that his books were easy to read because they were that much more difficult to write.Vipinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17332111746990936509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5439168179960787195.post-39654741475475481732014-08-08T13:39:07.171+10:002014-08-08T13:39:07.171+10:00pcs,

I think this is particularly a problem with big computer simulations, as recounted in this earlier post

http://condensedconcepts.blogspot.com.au/2011/04/when-science-managers-put-cart-before.html

But, this is not the sole source the problem. Some scientists just seem to love jargon and being part of an exclusive group that knows all the technical details. Ross H. These need to be backed up by detail, but if there isn't an overall message, the detail doesn't matter much.Prof. Shollhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01478272124748674635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5439168179960787195.post-43789037196512062002014-08-07T22:13:42.909+10:002014-08-07T22:13:42.909+10:00I have the impression the perception of people doi...I have the impression the perception of people doing things too complicated is that the people "above" often are more impressed by complicated messages. Because then you're really doing something.
Quite often (evaluations) the "people above" are managers. Sometimes scientists.

So it's at least part perception (whether correct or incorrect) by the offenders, and I think it ties into the current climate of with the way performance is measured.

pcshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03647766316634749128noreply@blogger.com
